review 1: Thanks to Netgalley.com and Oni Press for early access to this title.Wow! What an interesting book! The structure is really amazing, the way the stories get told throughout the different corresponding panels. I think this would have been a lot easier to read as an actual book. I kept having to flip back and forth to follow the individual story lines. I got a bit confused. Its a little more graphic than I like graphic novels to be, but did fit into the story that was being told. Its a real commentary on the human condition, in several incarnations. I liked how the various relationships changed or stayed the same, and how that was reflected in the panels. Very well done!
review 2: This book is such a rare treat. It follows multiple people and couples throug... morehout their lives. Each character/couple's box is designated for them and every two pages continues their story, all while telling an overall main story through on long poem. The graphics and story are simple, but profound. The couples aren't all alike (from different races to sexuality), but Fawkes weaved them all together masterfully. As the stories develop, characters begin to die. When they die, their designated square becomes, and remains, black. It's such a harsh, yet understated, design that reminds you the character is gone, and that death is final. I admit I had trouble following some of the story because I read it during a three day period. This is definitely a book that should be read all the way through. Your heart will break. There will be a character that represents you, and you will bond, and you will cry. Fawkes took the concept of a graphic novel and turned it around. I love it. less
