review 1: If you're interested in old Hollywood, this book is for you. Actually, it covers the history of the Marmont from when it was built in the 1920s to the 2000s, but I found the stories of the movie stars from the 30s and 40s most interesting. I found a few typos and missing commas, but overall the writing was fairly good. I just wish there had been more pictures of the building itself, both interior and exterior.
review 2: A gossipy book about one of the icons of old Hollywood....the Chateau Marmont, a hotel/apartment overlooking the city. The book traces the history of the building from the early 1920s until the mid-1980s (when the book was written). It is a very quick read and contains some interesting bits about the famous and not-so-famous who resided there.
