You know what’s funny? On my side of the world it’s the equivalent of winter because it’s so bloody cold and everyone on the internet keeps going on about the sun and summer break and all the books they’ll read while I’m here just about drowning in university work. It sucks, let me tell you.
Anyway I figured when most people think summer and books, they think fluffy contemporary romances but for this post I wanted to go a different direction and list for you guys some of my favorite hot reads (see what I did there… Coz it’s summer… Lol) and whether you want to feel the heat while chilling on the beach somewhere or a steamy read to curl up in bed with in the cold months, this list has got you covered!
A lot of you may not know but I’m trash for steamy reads. Nothing over the top, or too graphic (I think I’m basically describing the New Adult genre lol). Anyway, you’ll see what I mean below..
The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning:
This is definitely one of my all time favorite series and I feel like it doesn’t get the hype it deserves. I mean this series made fae interesting even before Sarah J. Maas exploded onto the scene.

The Bourbon Kings by J. R. Ward
Aside from her never ending Black Dagger Brotherhood series did you know J.R. Ward actually writes pretty good plain ol’ romance. I honestly feel like if she just let go of the stupid vampire series she could be truely great (but that’s just me). This series is proof of that.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Sally Thorne delivers way more than is expected in this book. It’s a combination of funny, serious and sexy, which just make it an incredible book.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
To be honest this book is mostly on the emotional love side rather than the sexy time side but it does have it’s little moments. Its a really great read. Colleen Hoover does romance really well so I really really recommend this one.
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.
Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.
