review 1: This is series is new and ongoing. I am quite a fan of story driven, less superhero comics. This is not to say that I don't enjoy a good superhero story too. I read an interview with Brian K. Vaughn earlier this year and this was one of the titles he mentioned that he is reading and enjoying. I am a huge BKV fan. I'm hooked on Alex + Ada and eagerly waiting for volume 2. My local comic bookstore does not carry the floppy.
review 2: There was a point about 2/3 of the way through the Luna Brothers’ “Girs” whee I felt like the guys must have just discovered Battlestar Galactica. The influence all of a sudden became pervasive. “Alex + Ada,” by Jonathan Luna and Sara Vaughn is then the Luna version of Battlestar prequel Caprica. You have a robot uprising, ... morerobots a second class citizens, virtual chatrooms and robot awakening. It’s a solid start but I don’t feel like they bring anything new to the table. But I’m a fan of Luna so I’ll be sticking around at least through volume 2. less
