2018 costume wish list

As it’s the start of 2018, what better way to spend it than making my line up for this year of cosplay.

1. Padme Amidala picnic dress – Star Wars

My main goal for 2018 is to  get this beauty done; It’s been on my list for the longest time and I have most of the materials already but was too scared to attempt it. If I haven’t done this by the end of the end of 2018 I will eat my shoes.

2. Anastasia broadway

I have been itching to do this costume ever since I first saw the show last year. All of the costumes in the show are beautiful, and are some of my favourite theatre costumes. The only issue I’m having is that she wears two different coats that are similar and are both known as the Anya outfit, and I’m afraid of choosing one design and then wanting to do the other. grrrr. This will definitely be happening next year as I’ll probably be taking it to MCM expo.

3. Glinda bubble dress – wickedI’m a big fan of Baz Luhrmann’s movies so I’ve been wanting to do something from one of his works for a while. I was going to do Satine’s red gown from Moulin Rogue but a friend told me that they were doing Leo Dicaprio’s Romeo and needed a Juliet so I agreed to do it, I didn’t have much affection for this movie but after giving it another watch I figured it wasn’t as bad as I thought and actually really like it now. I’m also a huge Leo DiCaprio fan so I’m pretty happy to be having a Romeo by my side. I get to wear a pair of fluffy wings too.

4. Juliet – Romeo and Juliet

I’m a big fan of Baz Luhrmann’s movies so I’ve been wanting to do something from one of his works for a while.

5. Rose Tyler – Doctor Who

My childhood mainly consisted of the tenth doctor and Rose – and I can’t believe I’ve never cosplayed her. It’s probably because Billie is too perfect in my eyes for me to even try to come close to her. I’d really love to get this costume, or any of her others, done in 2018. I was obsessed with this little pink dress when the episode aired and I’ve wanted it ever since. The only issues I have with creating this outfit is that the SA jacket and shoes are super hard and/or expensive to find, and I can’t find any good alts or really anything that comes close.

6. Rose Dewitt Buckator – Titanic

After doing Rose’s sink dress this year I’ve got the urge to do more of her beautiful costumes. I held a poll on my instagram and amino to decide which Rose look I would do next and there was a close result between her flying dress and boarding suit.

6. Rey – Star Wars: The last jedi

Already half done, and partially screen accurate! Rey’s new outfit, which I knew I was going to do before I’d even seen the movie. I love the colour scheme of this outfit. The design is very similar to her TFA outfit, but the fabrics are more textured and the design has more of that conventional jedi look.

7.  Eponine – Les Misrables

Did the stage one; Now it’s time for the movie one. I have already started on this one and I’m super excited to get it done. Éponine, as you probably know, is one of my favourite fictional characters and has always held a special place in my heart. I also had lots of fun at CFCC as her and she (stage version) was one of my most successful costumes of 2017.

8. Princess Leia – Star Wars: A new hope *UPDATE*

I recently bought better fabric to update my Leia dress, which I’ve been meaning to since Rogue One came put (that scene at the end omggg!) I also got a better wig to do the cinnamon roll buns in. Leia is my favourite SW character and I always try and do her justice so I’m hoping to make my upgrade as accurate as I possibly can.

9. Padme’s night gown – Star Wars: The Revenge of the sith

Had to include another Padme because, as I previously said, she’s top of my list to do in 2018 and I’d love to also do this outfit. You can’t see in this picture but the back of this dress has a gorgeous waterfall cape that made me fall in love with it. Not to mention the draped pearls and pretty steel blue colour. I’m trying to test myself with hand stitches and this dress features some fagoting stitching down the front seams of the dress which is really inciting me at the moments.

10. Hermione’s Bellatrix disguise – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

It’s not a Tinkerbri Costume wishlist blog without a Hermione outfit. As a Tinkerbri tradition, I try to do a new/updated Hermione each year, next years big Hermione project is her Bellatrix disguise. I really love Bellatrix’s costumes so this is my way of making one of hers as a cosplay. This outfit is made mostly out of velvet which I don’t know whether to be excited or scared about. It also has some piping features and fabric painting involved which I really love doing. A friend of mine is planning on doing Harry in the corresponding outfit so we’ll hopefully get some really cool pictures. We’ll just need a lot of gold things.

11. Daenerys – Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is my most favourite TV show and I’ve been wanting to do a costume from there for a while; Cersei is my favourite character but Daenerys’ designs caught my eye the most this year. I especially loved the capes that she had.

12. Cheryl Blossom – Riverdale

It took me a long while to get into this show and I only really like a few of the characters, but I loved Cheryl. Since my sister is a huge fan of the show and is doing Betty, she convinced me to do this iconic cheer uniform. It’s super easy and quick to make so this will likely happen this year.

13. Grand Duchess Anastasia – Anastasia

Ive already hinted at this numerous times on my social media accounts and hopefully this year I’ll finally get to achieve one of my dream costumes. This will be a big project that I’d like to take my time with, and I want my end result to look perfect and detailed so that I could maybe enter a masquerade at a con in 2019.

Until next time
