review 1: This is book is meant to be mostly about a female physician and her struggles to gain acceptance in an all male world, although it's just as much about her feelings of abandonment and longing for her absent father, also a physician, who abandoned the family under suspicious circumstances. I found the brisk pace of the book made it readable at first, but got the feeling that as she encountered each barrier to her career, it was like Moses raising his arms and parting the waters. I could forgive this because it was clear that the story was arcing towards a reunion with her father. This was a colossal letdown for the character, and especially for the reader. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, happened. This reunion should have ended the book, but the author opted to tack on ... moreanother 30 pages of text, and conclude with sappy, cheap romance. Just as a good ending can redeem a mediocre book, so can a bad ending ruin a good one.
Almeno a mio parere. less

Interesting medical info, but not much entertainment value in the story.

It was well-written and although it's not a thriller, I enjoyed it.
