Today we are moving on from the 2018 SAG Awards film nominees and moving forward to my wishes for the ladies nominated for their individual performances in television programs. The SAG Awards red carpet are really the last stop for television stars until they represent at the Emmy Awards in September. Usually the vibes given on the SAG Awards red carpet in the style department are much more laid back than what we see at other awards season events. I am wondering if that will be the case following the rather simple styles we saw on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. For the 2018 Golden Globe Awards Claire Foy opted for edgy, menswear inspiration via a black Stella McCartney double breasted loose fitting suit. The look I picked for her to wear on the SAG Awards red carpet is the exact opposite of that. For the SAG Awards, where she has been nominated for her final performance as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, I went to flirty bohemian glamour with this nude tulle Christian Dior Spring 2017 Couture strapless ballgown which features beautiful pressed floral embroidery on the bodice. I have to say that with the Spring 2018 Couture presentations being just two weeks away it baffles me that this gown hasn’t been worn since it was first presented almost a year ago. I think that the right person on the right red carpet would make this gown magic and I think that Claire would definitely take this gown and breath the effortless elegance she so often does into this look. I think that if she finished the look with a romantic updo, olive green Paul Andrew ‘Zenadia’ pumps, a bronzed light smokey eye, light pink lip, and a pair of Dior High Jewellery ‘Salon de Mars Pampille’ chandelier earrings in white, pink and yellow gold, scorched silver, diamonds and emeralds that Claire would ensure that this is a really beautiful moment on the red carpet at the SAG Awards.Elisabeth Moss has skipped the gowns for both the 2017 Emmy Awards (wearing blush Atelier Prabal Gurung) and the 2018 Golden Globe Awards (wearing custom Christian Dior Couture) so I wonder if she will shun the gown again on the SAG Awards red carpet. I think that Elisabeth would shut down the SAG Awards red carpet wearing this beautiful Armani Prive Fall 2017 Couture one shoulder gown which features multicolored abstract beaded rose embroidery. This is that sleek, yet feminine look that I think that Elisabeth would definitely be able to really make sure that this is a really beautiful moment for the SAG Awards red carpet. She has swept the Emmys and the Globes in this category so I feel like she really has the trophy just shored up. I feel like this gown is a statement on its own so I think that to really finish this look that Lizzy should add a romantic updo, defined eyes, a bold pink lip, black satin Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Alien’ sandals, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond drop earrings all would ensure that Elisabeth is perfection from head to toe.Laura Linney’s performance in Ozark was the surprising nomination in this category this year, though aside from Claire and Elisabeth the SAG and Golden Globe Award nominations in this category looked VERY different. Laura isn’t a red carpet diva. Usually once or twice a year we see her step onto a red carpet. Viktor & Rolf has started a red carpet come back since it had a very low key appointment only presentation of the launch of the Sior collection during New York Fashion Week last September. Since then we have seen Zendaya (twice) wearing the collection on the red carpet and I would love to see Laura add some variety to the age range of this collection by wearing this ruby red Viktor & Rolf Sior Spring 2018 classic a-line gown which features a sophisticated v-neckline which leads to a beautifully seamed bodice that is adorned with a generous couture bow with three straps cascading down the shine of the skirt and an open back. This gown is nothing but glamour and I think that for the SAG Awards red carpet that it is just dramatic enough without being overly extra. A pair of silver Jimmy Choo ‘Talia’ sandals, a sleek bouffant style updo, winged eyeliner, a light pink lip, and dramatic Harry Winston diamond waterfall chandelier earrings all would give the perfect finishing touches to this look giving some major 60’s glam vibes. The custom Calvin Klein by Appointment cocktail dress that Millie Bobby Brown wore for the 2018 Golden Globe Awards sparked a lot of controversy. Many thought that the dramatic open back that the dress had sexualized the 13 year old actress. I have to say that in my personal opinion anyone who sexualized that dress should be ashamed. The dress was a perfect option for a 13 year old girl. I think the fact that it was a cocktail dress over a gown made it youthful. The open back framed by a dramatic ruffle was absolutely nothing. I don’t believe that all of Millie’s looks have to be pink, frothy, or princess-y. That isn’t really her MO anyway. With that statement in mind I had already picked a tulle a-line dress for her to wear for the SAG Awards red carpet. I think that this white Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 RTW tea length gown which features bold multi colored OSCAR lettering would be a perfect age appropriate, but really bold moment for Millie to wear on this red carpet. The bold sequined letters are what I think make this rather classic de la Renta dress youthful and fun and I think that it would be a great moment for Millie to rock for the SAG Awards. Add a sleek bun, defined eyes, a red lip, white Calvin Klein ‘Graycie’ pointed toe PVC detailed mules, and a pair of Messika ‘Cassiopée’ earrings which feature oval cut and brilliant cut diamonds that ascend the lobe like ear cuffs all would keep this look chic and youthful.Rounding out this list is Robin Wright and I am PRAYING that she will be on the red carpet. In December following the allegations against Kevin Spacey it was announced that he was fired and that Robin was now the top billed star on House of Cards. While I feel like Robin is a long shot to take home this trophy I really want to see her step out and support her show and her nomination. Robin rarely steps out for events anymore, but after a major fashion week tour last September I am just really praying for something major. I think that sleek sex appeal is what we will see from Robin if she steps out on this red carpet. This black beaded Ralph Lauren Fall 2017 RTW column gown which features a scoop neck and tank style bodice would deliver that moment. I feel like there are few women who make major red carpet moments out of black gowns and Robin is one of them, and I think that just the inherent 90’s elegance on this red carpet would be a really major statement. Keep this look perfection with sleek styling including a smokey eye, red lip, sleek bob, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pumps, and Forevermark diamonds including a pair of knotted rope dangling earrings and a serpentine cocktail ring.
The 2018 SAG Awards will be held on Sunday January 21, 2018.
