review 1: This is really terrific. My kids read the first volume of this graphic novel collection earlier this year, and we just picked up Vol2. I read the whole thing (375 pages!) last night. Billed as a "feminist" YA fantasy series, it tells the story of the oddball inhabitants of the Castle, a sort of idyllic, pastoral refuge for misfits and cast-offs: animalian humanoids, beaded women, leftover servants from bygone ages, and so on. The castle is also infested with mischievous sprites. The narrative gives us glimpses of the characters' pasts, as well as their current efforts to make the old castle into a more livable space. Really compelling, very sweet, and also quite wacky in places. Linda Medley is brilliant.
review 2: It was lovely to have another visit to Castle
... moreWaiting and its inhabitants. I can't wait for Volume 3! These characters have become very dear, and of course there are many questions to be answered. Unlike Vol 1, there was no story-within-a-story, though there *was* more of a backstory on a couple of the characters. The humor and tender moments continue....this is such a great example of a darling graphic novel, and appropriate for ages 10 to 90. less

Number two was as fun and fresh as the first volume. Great getting to know the characters more here.
