What I am going to write about today may be dismissed as ” hippy” or “new age thinking” but one of my old colleagues back when I was an ELA teacher taught me everything is symbolic and that if you pay attention you are being given signs all the time out in the world. Well today I went for a run in a park nearby. When I finished my run I was walking to cool down and happened to look along the path. Now last week when I went I saw a praying mantis. For those of you interested a praying mantis symbolizes stillness and patience. I’ve been going through a huge period of transition in my career but I have also been trying to focus more on myself and really practice self care, which I never did enough of before. Lately, I have been feeling like I need to know what the next step is and be ready to go once my classes are over. I saw a praying mantis again yesterday, so maybe that is why I was compelled to look down.
Regardless, I noticed all of these clovers along the side of the paved pathway and I thought to myself, “I bet there’d a four leaf clover in there somewhere there’s so many clovers” I had no intention of really taking the time to look through them but I was looking down at them and then stopped because one did look like a four leaf clover. Sure enough it was! I was amazed at how easy and quick it was to find something so rare. Thinking of my old colleague I looked up the symbolism behind a four leaf clover and found several different meanings. One that came up repetitively was each leaf represents one of the following: hope, faith, love, luck. A few sites said the person who finds it will meet their future lover that same day. Unfortunately, I did not meet any men today for that to be true. In general it is just a symbol of good luck to come. I also find it interesting that this would occur the same day as a full moon is taking place. I have learned to analyze the coincidences of my life a little more and while it may actually mean nothing, wouldn’t it be wonderful if it did?
