review 1: Tarsie traveled from NYC to Kansas with her friend Mary, Joss (Mary's husband) plus their 2 kids. As soon as they arrived in Kansas, Mary died due to cancer. Before Mary died, she made Tarsie promised that she will care and love Mary's family. Tarsie agreed, even tho it would be difficult with Joss, who is downright rude and mean and a man without faith. Over time, Joss's attitude changed. He was considerate and sweet and turned to God for help. Tarsie and Joss ended up together!
review 2: This is a really good book but it drags just a bit. Tarsie marries her best friends husband after she dies trying to make it to Kansas and making her promise to love her husband because there is good in him. The husband, Joss really doesn't marry her but pretends that a ... morebartender he meets is a preacher, therefore, their marriage is a sham. Joss has lot of issues to deal with such as drinking, gambling and not enough money. But the good Lord looks out for fools too and uses a black man, Samuel to turn Joss and Tarsie's life around for good. Like I said before it was good book. less
