Synopsis:
Some memories are better left untouched.
Ethan was abducted from his front yard when he was just seven years old. Now, at sixteen, he has returned to his family.
It’s a miracle… at first.
Then the tensions start to build. His reintroduction to his old life isn’t going smoothly, and his family is tearing apart all over again. If only Ethan could remember something, anything, about his life before, he’d be able to put the pieces back together.
But there’s something that’s keeping his memory blocked.
Something unspeakable…

While reading this story, I also paid special attention to the writing. I was not sure how it was going to go since I knew her writing style from the Wake Series to the Unwanteds series. In the Wake series, I mentioned how the writing style was more script-like. It was a completely different style than the Unwanteds series where the writing was more story like. The writing in Dead to You showed how McMann’s writing style have evolved over time. The writing was much better and more enojoyable.
This story was very interesting indeed. I almost had an idea how the story was going to lay out and I was confidence in it. I felt like I knew what was going to happen. However, as the story proceeded, I somehow got convinced that my idea was wrong. I did not know what to expect. McMann managed to have me believe the story and then proceeded to smack me right in the face in the last chapter. I could even hear her laughing in the distance. LISA MCMANN, HOW COULD YOU END A BOOK LIKE THAT? SOMETHING LIKE THAT CALLS FOR A SEQUEL!
Also, Gracie had to my favorite character. She’s a pure, innocent soul filled with smiles and humor. Every time she was brought up, I could not help but either laugh or smile. Gracie served the purpose of new memories and seeing the life Ethan could have had. She was definitely a memorable character despite being a secondary character.
McMann was the ability to create amazing stories and that s why I will always be waiting in line for her next book. I am always ready to read her next book. Now, that only leaves me with Cryer’s Cross and the Visions series and all upcoming books. Until next time, McMann!
