review 1: This is the second couponing book I've read, and I thought this one had some good advice that the first one didn't. I'm not quite as in love with the author -I don't always agree with some of her coupon policies and I feel like she can get a little more out of control than I'm comfortable with at this point. Still a great tool and a great resource for someone looking to start couponing - just take this one with a grain of salt and don't let her bully you.
review 2: The book had some good information in it that I will use. I was disappointed to see barcode decoding in it, even if it was only there to help couponers understand why some of their coupons might be declined, even if they are valid because there are many people who will likely use the information for
... moreunethical purposes. Likewise I was sad to see that the authors seem to condone taking peelies off of products that they are not going to buy to use on another product. They indicate that the manufacturer wants you to buy their products and doesn't care which one it is. This argument is incorrect. Speaking as someone who has worked putting those peelies on products, the companies are very specific about which products get them. Peelies are intended to get the customer to buy the product they are on, even if the coupon is good on more than one of the company's products. It may be a new product or one that isn't performing as well as the company would like. The peelie entices customers to try that product and if they are removed by people not buying the product, you are depriving the company of the sales on the item they are specifically trying to push. They are also meant to be a reward for the customer purchasing the product. I find this to be an unethical form of couponing.Aside from these two points, the book is full of good information. While I don't see a real need to stock up for 6 months to a year, I can understand the stocking up for a short time at least. I will use many of the techniques in my own couponing efforts in the future. less
