CM Podcast 122 – Longshot Miniseries

It seems like the 80s are all the rage today.  You have Stranger Things which is set in the 80s and Stephen King’s It which originally came out the 80s and the 2017 movie was based in that decade.

I’m not saying the Comics Misremembered.com is responsible for all this 80s nostalgia that’s been going around recently but is it a coincidence our podcast came out almost 3 year ago focusing on many 80s comics and then Stanger Things, The Goldbergs and It all came out after?  Hmmmmm.  Makes you wonder.

Well, we keep the 80s nostalgia going with a look at the Longshot miniseries which was produced by Marvel and published originally in 1985.

Longshot was an original character created by Ann Nocenti and Art Adams.

We really wouldn’t call this a review.  It is more of a study on a comic that tried to do something more that heroes and villains.  This comic was trying to expose people to much headier concepts like Existentialism, Metaphysics and Free Will vs Fate.  Jon and I missed the philosophical concepts as kids but we appreciate them years later.

Jon and I also talk about Existentialism and the Metaphysics of Luck at the end of the podcast.

We had a great time misremembering everything about Longshot and getting the chance to read it again.

Your comics pal,

Jim
