December Wrap Up (2017)

52/50 books

December reading has been lovely. With the end of the year and my goal in sight, I got a little motivation back, and had that magnetic pull again to some of the books on my shelves I’d really been looking forward to. It’s also shown me that the last year of pushing myself to read more literary fiction has worked, in the same way pushing myself out of rereading worked a couple of years ago. Last year, when picking up books to get to the end of a goal my automatic choices would have been YA and ‘easy reads’, but this month I’ve gone for literary fiction and nonfiction choices. It’s also been a month of surprisingly weepy reads – four or five books I read this month had me tearing up. Many of these will also be in my favourites for the year.
