Introducing Our Intern

I am Emma Jarvis and alongside my current studies for my MA in Curation at Norwich University of the Arts, I am also Time and Tide’s newest intern. With a background in studying history, photography and archaeology, through curation and exhibitions, the museum environment seemed like the best place for me to explore all of these subjects.  Since joining the team at Time and Tide last month I have assisted in planning for the 2018 Summer Exhibition, explored their diverse collections and looked through the photographic archives; just a few of the exciting and inspiring aspects of the museums behind the scenes.

In the coming weeks, I’m looking forward to helping finalise the selection of objects for the up and coming exhibition, in addition to working with our ever-growing group of community curators, and furthering their involvement with our unseen collections – something I am really passionate about! Collections are my favourite part of the museum because they are full of treasures and stories and you just never know what you might find out or learn about next. Most of all, as a local, born and bought up in Norfolk I am so excited to see more and more of how Great Yarmouth’s rich and compelling history has been connected to and portrayed by great painters such as Constable and Turner.
