I am absolutely loving Twelve Kings by Beaulieu at the moment so I had to run out and get this prequel! As far as I know, this story shows us more of Ceda as the White Wolf. Very intriguing! I’m happy to read anything about this world to be honest, it is f.a.s.c.i.n.a.t.i.n.g.

Ditto for this. This is the sequel to Twelve Kings so I do have a decision to make on my reading order… I suppose it depends if Twelve Kings has a huge cliffhanger or not! I notice book three comes out next month.. so happy!
The Fifth Season | The Obelisk Gate | The Stone Sky | NK Jemisin | The Broken Earth trilogy
So I was pleasantly surprised to find all of these books on Amazon UK for £2 a piece! The first two books won Hugo awards in 2016 and 2017 respectively so I’m hoping this gamble pays off. I was reluctant to buy all three as I really did not get on with The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by Jemisin, but as award winners in the fantasy genre (and at £2!) I thought they were worth a try. Hopefully I’ll love them!
Senlin Ascends | Josiah Bancroft | #1 The Books of Babel
I am so intrigued about this one. This unique fantasy follows a man’s quest to find his new wife after visiting a huge tower full of cities for their honeymoon. It was originally self published and came under Mark Lawrence’s radar. He loved it and helped Bancroft get in touch with an agent and now it has been officially published by Orbit. It’s had a lot of hype on Goodreads so when I found it in Waterstones this weekend I couldn’t leave it behind. I have cautiously high hopes.
Mistress of Rome | Kate Quinn | #1 The Empress of Rome
I do enjoy a bit of historical fiction and it’s been a long time since I’ve picked any up. I am keen to escape back into the genre and Ancient Rome is bound to suck me in. This follows a slave girl named Thea as she catches the eye of her mistress’ lover, a notoriously terrifying gladiator. They fall in love but are wickedly pulled apart by the jealous mistress and eventually she catches the eye of the Emperor as she makes a name for herself as a singer. I am sure lots of shenanigans ensue and hopefully it will be an addictive read. I’ll let you know!
