Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1952, Jeff Shaara is a highly acclaimed author who launched a career as a writer after working for several years as a dealer of coins and precious metals. The son of award-winning novelist Michael Shaara, Jeff Shaara wrote his first novel, Gods and Generals, as a prequel to his father’s 1975 novel, The Killer Angels, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

With the publication of Gods and Generals in 1996, Jeff Shaara caught the attention of the literary community and soon found himself at the top of the New York Times Best Seller List. The book also earned him his first Boyd Award from the American Library Association (ALA). Gods and Generals was later adapted into a major motion picture of the same name.

To date, Shaara has written 16 novels of historical fiction, including 2004’s To the Last Man, which also won the ALA’s Boyd Award. His latest novel, The Frozen Hours, was released in May 2017.
