Maybe It’s You by Candace Calvert

Publisher’s Summary

ER nurse Sloane Ferrell escaped her risky past—new name, zip code, job, and a fresh start. She’s finally safe, if she avoids a paper trail and doesn’t let people get too close. Like the hospital’s too-smooth marketing man with his relentless campaign to plaster one “lucky” employee’s face on freeway billboards.

Micah Prescott’s goal is to improve the Hope hospital image, but his role as a volunteer crisis responder is closer to his heart. The selfless work helps fill a void in his life left by family tragedy. So does a tentative new relationship with the compassionate, beautiful, and elusive Sloane Ferrell.

Then a string of brutal crimes makes headlines, summons responders . . . and exposes disturbing details of Sloane’s past.

Can hope spring from crisis?

My Review

Sloan Ferrell barely manages to stay one step ahead of the mobster monsters chasing her because of her association with her e-fiancé, Paul Stryker. She has succeeded in evading them, and him, and continues to do everything in her power to keep it that way by moving, changing her name and her persona. Being run off a highway and over a cliff tends to get their message through loud and clear.

Maybe It’s You, is the third in the series, Crisis Team by Candace Calvert. Nonetheless, it works well as a stand-alone. You don’t miss anything by not having the back story.

I enjoyed reading the newest book in the series. However, I struggled with some of the imagery due to PTSD. If, like me, this can be an issue for you, be advised there are several extremely intense scenes depicting mob type revenge.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Maybe It’s You, is that I didn’t guess the outcome. I guessed one subtle detail, but not the overall result. I enjoy books like this immensely. I read so many books that accurately guessing the outcome is almost second nature to me. Thank you, Ms. Calvert, for a book so full of twists, turns and shockers that the ending is a complete surprise.

Candace Calvert thrills again with her newest addition to her medical romantic thrillers.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
