Monash Centre for Astrophysics

Looking for a chance to ask questions about the universe with an expert? Then you mustn’t miss the opportunity talking with the amazing team from the Monash Centre for Astrophysics (MoCA)!

The Monash Centre for Astrophysics one of the most diverse astrophysical research groups in Australia. It was comprised of researchers and students from Monash University and works in lots of areas, such as stars, planets, galaxies, neutron stars, black holes, gravitational waves and things that go bang in the night (supernovae). The researchers study the universe from their secret lair deep in Melbourne’s south-east suburbs, which is also known as Monash University, Clayton Campus.

At this year’s festival, the MoCA team will be bringing their quiz master back along with badge-making, chocolates, ask-a-PhD student and much more. The team headed by Associate Professor Daniel Price, with three Astro experts David Liptai, Hayley Macpherson, and James Grimmett will be waiting for you at the lower ground of Scienceworks to chat with you.
