Too many questions that popped into my head while reading this novel. Previously, I’ve never read the previous series from The Darkest Minds because this is the second series. So, I don’t really understand this novel about anything but it does remind us to modern thriller novels.
“Never Fade,” tells about Ruby after removing traces of herself in Liam’s mind and leaving behind her friends protecting them. Ruby then takes on a dangerous mission for the Children’s League. Children League is a league that aims to save the kidnapped children from their respective families. This league is actually a special child who has power and is barely conscious. For Ruby, the good guys aren’t always good. With just a few of his abilities, Ruby runs a mission to search for an important flash drive containing the secrets of the disease that killed most children in America. In this journey, Ruby traverses a lawless, hopeless country looking for Liam and the answer to all these calamities.
I also really regret reading this novel. Not having regretted it because the novel is bad, but I just read the second series of this book right away. So, many questions are popping up in my head. Although the ending is so plot-twist, the tension in this book also makes me pump my adrenaline, but I just don’t understand what this book tells. Although like that, I really love the story development in this book especially at the ending and the last scene of this book.
This book also presents us with so many and so stressful actions to read. The character development is also quite interesting, especially this Vida character. Although Vida just appeared in this second series, I really like this character compared to anyone. This novel presents so many surprises and travel compositions that are also slightly similar to the first series if I think. In addition to the character Vida, Chubs and Liam characters are also so interesting.
Because I read the Indonesian version, the translation that’s in this book is quite a bit difficult to understand than the English version. I’m thinking that this Indonesian version is a bit chaotic and distracted so it makes a bit of a misunderstanding too. The substitution of the paragraphs in this book is also too frequent so it makes it difficult to digest the existing story. But, it was not too distracting for me.
Overall, this novel is a novel that is so tense on every page whether it’s conversation or action in this novel. Increasing story and interesting character recognition. For you who love dystopian or apocalyptic novels, I recommend reading The Darkest Minds series.
