I’m always up for a hockey sports romance and I’ve enjoyed Carmen’s books in the past so I was curious to see how I’d like this book. I’m happy to report it was sexy, sweet and entertaining if not a little to dramatic.
A country music star, Stella, ends up seeking shelter with Van, hockey player extraordinaire in his Canadian mountain home. These two argue more than anything initially but eventually Van grows on Stella and his sexiness gets to her. Van is a flirt. Perhaps the biggest flirt on the planet. One thing that was a little overdone for me was his contact ‘sex on the brain’ and innuendo. I get that it’s part of his personality and while it was endearing initially, just a little less would have made him more likeable. That being said, I really did enjoy his character.
Stella is maybe a little hard to sympathize with but once you get to know her, it’s easy to like her. Being in the spotlight for ten years has left her needing to learn to live her life the was SHE wants to and not listen to everyone else around her.
The sexy times in this book are pretty hot and there are several but it didn’t seem like too much. Side characters are equal parts awesome and frustrating. I believe some of Van’s teammates will get books which is great with me! If you enjoy sexy, light reads and/or sports romance, I encourage you to give this a whirl.
