Dear Hayley,
I’m assuming you’re still hungover, so I’ll make this brief.
Last night, you slipped under my sheets (without my permission), and we almost had sex. I got the hell out of the bed once I realized it was you, and I took you home.
That’s the story.
The end.
Period.
Just in case you’ve forgotten, you’re my best friend’s little sister. We will never be anything more. (We can’t be anything more.) Our previous friendship is still unresolved–or “over” in your terms, so I’d prefer if we worked on becoming ‘just friends’ again since you’re in town.
Nonetheless, I’m not a man who leaves questions unanswered–even the drunken ones, so to properly close our inappropriate conversation:
1) Yes, I liked the way your lips felt against mine when you were on top of me.
2) Yes, I do “prefer” rough sex, but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t rough with you.
3) No, I had no idea you were still a virgin…
This message never happened,
Corey
Over Us, Over You is another sweet, sexy novel from Whitney G. Feisty, entertaining, and full of feels, Hayley and Corey’s book absolutely hit the spot. I’m a sucker for a good sibling’s best friend romance and this one had me intrigued from the very beginning. I adored the easy banter, obvious attraction, and longstanding history between Hayley and Corey. I enjoyed getting to glimpse pieces of their past, finding their relationship easy to root for. The roommate aspect of their story definitely made for some delicious tension and I honestly couldn’t wait for things between these two to explode. I always enjoy a fiery heroine and Hayley delivered in spades. Her relationship with her best friend Kelly was icing on the cake, providing plenty of relatable moments that made me laugh out loud. Whitney G. has definitely created a colorful group of lovable characters with this crazy crew.
I can always rely on Whitney G. to deliver an entertaining, quick read designed to be devoured and Over Us, Over You was no exception. I did find the pacing of this book to be a bit uneven. There was plenty of build-up only to have things blow up and resolve a bit too quickly. I also didn’t realize this book was a spin-off and I felt like I was at a bit of a disadvantage because of it. While there was definitely some insight into Hayley’s relationship with her brother, I needed more in regards to Corey’s relationship with him and Hayley’s relationship with her brother’s fiancé in order to really connect to all of the pieces of this story. Those issues aside, this novel was sweet, funny, and easy to read. I enjoyed the ups and downs of Hayley and Corey’s off-limits love and the secondary relationships that made this book so much fun to read. Whitney G. has once again charmed me with Over Us, Over You!
Over Us, Over You from Whitney. G. is a quick, sweet read bound to leave readers with a smile. It’s a brother’s best friend romance but with a friends to lovers twist as well, and if you know me, you know that those are two of my largest sweet spots. Corey and Hayley are ridiculously cute with the back and forth tug of war in learning how to be together as adults. I loved their drafted emails and fun exchanges while trying to keep their romance hidden from the world. At times, I did just want to shake them and make them come clean. However, it made for a cute story that made me fall in love right along side the characters. I have no doubt that readers will be enamored with Corey’s hardheadedness as well as Hayley’s fun-loving personality. In a way, they complemented each other perfectly.
“Forget going to hell. I’m flying there drenched in gasoline.”
I do have to admit that I’m a tad annoyed that the book wasn’t marketed as a spin-off of some of the author’s other works. I’m a reader who likes to go into things in order of publication, even when there is no overlap of characters. Given that the secondary characters were the same, it definitely irked me because I wish I had known. Furthermore, the pacing of the story felt slightly off to me. There was a lot of build up with a quick climax and resolution. I wish that Whitney would have spend a little more time on the blowing up of the problem and expanding on it more. That being said, I know that I can always count on this author for a quick, flirty and fun read. She has yet to truly disappoint me in this regard, which always leaves me coming back for more!
