Review:This was my first Meghan March book- I found this author since I joined Bookstagram and when i read the blurb, I knew that I had to get my hands on it. I have a deep love for all things Louisiana (hellooo New Orleans) and also a good romance novel. I don’t know what rock I have been hiding under to have not found out about this author before, but I am so glad I have found her now.
Charlie is running from her past and what better place to hide than in the city that will suck you right in and never let you go? It is only there that she can finally be her true self, she can be free and she can try to right the wrong that her father did. But even though she tries to move on, she never really can because there is still something from her past holding her back.
Simon is a mama’s boy- “I like sports, huntin’, fishin’, fast cars, and faster women, but I love my momma.” (And trust me there is nothing wrong with having a mama’s boy- cause I got two of them!) and a Congressman’s son. His dad would love for nothing more than for him to find a girl that fits his definition of a society woman, but one look at Charlie, and there is no turning back.
I love how much Meghan March really does capture the essence of the South in her book. I can picture myself in the places of where they are actually at, and it makes the story more real to me. This is a story of love, heartache, not conforming to society and its wants, and doing right. The South is a hard place to live, and we definitely have our own way of doing things, but I was down right giddy reading about Charlie and Simon and how they decided to shake things up a bit. In the end, both end up with a happy ending, so I would call that a win in my book!
I did a quick google search online and was able to find a suggested reading order for her books, so you should check that out if you haven’t already. I would give this book a 4 star Roasting because I fell in love with the atmosphere of the story and the characters in it. I love how the good guy finally falls in love with the bad girl and this fun little twist definitely made the book what it was!
