review 1: Dragons, Scotland. Sounds promising. But each of these Dragon Kings (more like troop leaders with no troops) falls in love, despite a spell wiping them of emotions, end up with weak women with no common sense. 4 stories, in the first, a woman who has no warm clothing because her luggage was lost goes walking the dog, in the snow, AT NIGHT, with no gloves, etc. Moron. The second one goes into a scary, scary cave and twists her ankle. Nope, no overused plot devices here. The dragons own a "famous" distillery, yet no one knows what they look like, because they are sooooo secretive, yet one of the couples dresses up in prom wear, or whatever, and goes to charity events. Where there are no photographers? No cell phones? No one in Scotland takes sel... morefies?
review 2: This was a collection of four different stories that starts the Dark Kings series. It was a great read. Donna Grant has a unique style of writing that if you like historical romances with a paranormal twist to it this would be a great read. The main female characters in each of the stories were easy to relate to and the main male characters in each of the stories would make you scratch your head from time to time. There are times through out each story that kinda of made me mad due to the fact that at one point the stories kinda slowed to much for my taste, but with that said they were still good and it is something that I would reread in the future. Some readers might not like the romance part that much because she does make it the biggest part of the story lines for each of the stories. There is some action(fighting and arguing) throughout the stories but it is mostly on the romance between the two main characters in the stories. I would recommend this book to those that are more into the historical romance stories with a twist here and there. I really did enjoy it. less
