Review
This book started out strong, but sadly did not keep me enthralled throughout. Slowly the book started picking up my least favorite tropes in historical romances. The main lead, while strong willed, was very dumb. She did not know how to think through a situation, instead jumped to dumb conclusions. I prefer heroines who can think. As for the hero of the story, he also hit on a common trope, insta-love. That’s called infatuation, not love. I am extremely skeptical of falling in love in less than two weeks.

One thing he did have going for him was his self-control kindness. He was able to restrain himself when our heroine was being dumb.
One aspect I enjoyed about this novel was its use of setting and preserving what is already there. It was refreshing, as most historical romances could seemingly be placed anyway (in high society).
Overall, this was a decent romance novel. I’ve read worse and I’ve read better.
