Summary: Woods had his perfect life mapped out for him. Rise up the ranks of the family business. Marry the rich girl of his parents’ dreams. Pretend that wealth and privilege was all he’d ever wanted. Then a girl named Della breezed into town, a beautifully imperfect stranger who captured his heart and opened his eyes to a new kind of future. Woods is ready and willing to sacrifice everything for her when the sudden death of his father leaves him with his mother to care for and a business to manage.
Della is determined to be strong for Woods, even as she’s quietly falling to pieces. No matter how far from home she’s run, the ghosts of her past have never stopped haunting her. Struggling to hide her true feelings from Woods, Della fears she can’t be his rock without dragging him down into the darkness with her. But is she strong enough to let go of the last thing holding her together?
THOUGHTS
The story is just pure perfection. Ugh! Just how I like my own man to be!!! I love how dedicated Woods is to Della. I know some other people may find this kind of relationship suffocating but this is just the kind I want. The way he treats Della and the way he prioritizes her above all else are just purely sweet to the nth level! I just have no words. In an ideal setup, this is just too much but I don’t know, I find this just right. Woods is very understanding of Della’s past and present. He takes good care of her like no one else did. I never knew Woods this could be protective and dedicated to a woman. I thought he was just some playboy jerk actually. He is rich, powerful, with an influential family fated to an equally powerful, rich, and sophisticated woman ever since they were kids. Until he met Della and changed his whole perspective in life.
Della, I love how selfless you are. In some sort of weird way, I also loved her pessimism towards herself and her breakouts. Without that, I would have never known how strong, supportive, understanding, and respectful of Woods towards her situation. They were both in a place and time where all tides are low for Della. It is not until you’ve seen and been in someone else’s worst that you’d truly know if that someone is serious or committed about you. In this situation, I can say, through thick and thin, for better or for worse, Woods had been there for her. I totally ship them to the nth level!
It was a really good read, I must say. A really good one. Much better than Twisted Perfection. The ending though, it’s really shocking. Death. I never thought that that would even be possible in this book and or to their group. It’s a nice kind of twist but of course I wish it never happened. But it gave this book a punch which made the difference between Rush’s and Blaire’s part of the series.
I gave this book a 5 out of 5.
