Sit Mommy…..recently my 2 year old has taken to saying “sit mommy”. It is so sweet and I try to stop what I’m doing and sit with her because she is saying sit, but what she really means is:
Sit with me
Play with me
Pay attention to me
Snuggle me
Read to me
Be with me…..
I can’t always stop what I’m doing to sit, baby girl but know that I am trying, I am working hard to:
Sit with you without my phone
Play with you without being distracted
Give you my undivided attention
Snuggle with you, just you
Read to you
Be with you…..
My girls are my everything and it is so easy to get so caught up in social media, the house, ourselves, tv…..whatever dostracts us that we miss these moments. Yes, there will be times that you can’t stop everything to sit and children need to understand that…..but they should never be made to feel that other things are more important than them.
The days are long but the years are short that we get to sit and snuggle and play and read, let’s be sure to enjoy it while we can.
I am talking to myself as I write this, and I promise my girls to be better at being present in the moments with them ❤
