Album Review – Best Behavior – “Things That Happened” EP

Brooklyn, NY natives Best Behavior are gearing up to released their newest EP Things That Happened. The band are deeply inspired by older bands like The Kinks and The Velvet Underground, as well as newer bands like The Strokes and Tame Impala. When you listen to this EP, you can definitley hear the sounds of those bands peaking through in each song.

The EP consists of 4 tracks total and kicks things off with the title track. “Things That Happened” is a high energy tune that’s incredibly catchy! The track is very guitar driven and has a strong bass line that’s noticeable throughout the whole song. Next is “As I Wait”. While this song may sound more mellow at first, it is filled with some surprises. As you listen, you’ll begin to hear more and more tropical elements peaking through. Toward the end, there’s a killer guitar solo with bongo drums. That little section should cement this track on your summertime playlist.

The last two songs are “Say” and “Catherine No Chaser”. “Say” reels you in with a really infectious bass line that will definitley have you up and dancing in no time. “Catherine No Chaser” is a very strong song to end the EP with. It starts with a repeating guitar line and features a chorus that will make this song stay in your head for days.

Things That Happened is strong from start to finish with each song adding in exciting elements that will leave you wanting more music to listen to from Best Behavior. If this is what the band can do in under 20 minutes of music then I can’t wait to hear what the band do with their next full album.
