Synopsis

Despite the carefully-worded agreement meant to keep their relationship strictly professional while Kate explored BDSM for an article in her college’s newspaper, Drake and Kate broke their own rules and fell in love.

Now, in the weeks before they leave for Africa, Drake takes Kate more deeply into the D/s lifestyle. In the process, the walls between them continue to crumble as they explore each other physically and emotionally and they fall even more deeply in love. But before they can even leave Manhattan, the past returns unexpectedly to challenge their blossoming relationship.

Is Kate and Drake’s commitment to each other strong enough to stand the test?

Review

This part of Kate and Drake’s story picks up a few weeks after the first book ends. Kate and Drake are starting to explore their relationship a bit more, and Dawn is still being a pain in the butt.

So we finally get to meet Drake’s ex-wife and Kate’s ex-boyfriend. Only to have them cause so many issues for the new couple to deal with. This feels like something that may actually happen.

Of course, this also throws their plans for Africa into way farther in the future. It allows Kate to start working on her art again, but then there’s the whole child with cancer situation. Her father and stepmother are very supportive the whole way through.

Drake’s ex and her husband, well let’s just say that they are terrible people. Honestly why keep it from Drake only to need him to improve the health of said secret and then not allow the child to know. I really don’t like them. They’re just ridiculous.

And Kate finally gets to meet his band members. It’s nice that he’s finally combining the various parts of his life. I’m glad they were able to deal with all the issues that arose and look forward to reading the next one.
