review 1: 4 brilliant stars. I can neatly say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had me from the start. It was a little slow to begin with, but about 35% through it really picked up. I'm glad there was no back and forth, silliness, can't make up my mind whether I love you or hate you kind of dealings. I loved Max. I think he is the best kid. I also loved that it showed autism as not a disability, but an extension of a person. It's didnt defy who he was. It just was a part of him. He was a little boy who loved space, music and fruit. He was a brilliant little dude who could master technology and write music better than the professionals who had been doing it for years. He was a great kid, and I loved that Scott decided to have him so involved in the story as she did. A really fabulou... mores read. Not something I'd normally read, and I don't typically read stand alones, but I'm super happy with the ending of this one, and comfortable enough to say that it was enough. Well done Ginger.
review 2: I absolutely love this book! I simply devoured it.I thought it had just enough of everything for me. No overly drama. The romance was just spot on. This book pulled on my heartstrings and I could relate to it.This book was such a hard read. Having a son that has PDD-NOS(Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified) he's considered high functioning on the autism spectrum.I can relate to some of what Avery has to go through in this book. For example... How she "bribes" her son to do just the littlest things.Hey... Been there done that.. Still doing it (I don't use candy like Avery... But I promise things and follow through with it if he's done it).Kids with autism or are on the spectrum... You just have to take things minute by minute... Hour by hour.... And day by day.Because for me anyways... There is always something you have to work through.Although my son is not exactly like Max... I feel for her... Because it's an everyday struggle. You always have to be alert and you have to keep a strict routine. (I learned that early on!) Routine is very much important to kids that have Autism. It always feels like your on the go with very little down time. It's hard... I'm married and I can't imaging doing it by myself. So I very much feel for Avery.I loved how Mason and Avery came together. Their relationship was a work in progress. Mason had a lot of growing up to do and Avery had to learn to let her guard down.... In order to enjoy the little things mason had to offer.I absolutely loved the relationship between mason and Ray (Avery's father). That old man saw something in Mason and really believed in him. And he trusted him with his daughter and his grandson Max.Max was a pretty incredible kid. It's not easy dealing with a Child that has special needs. I felt Mason really did a good job adapting to Max's routine.Overall... This story was good. I definitely would recommend this book to other people! And I would definitely read more books by this author.*Book provided by publisher via Netgalley* less
