The Healing Properties of Sea World

Hey Friends!

I’ve been so high-strung for the past few weeks; ever since my fun diagnosis, so the family and I decided to take a little trip to San Diego. We live about 2 hours away, so it’s a pretty easy and pain-free (Ha!) trip for everyone, which is exactly what I need right now.

Now’s also a good time to mention that our posse consists of: My dad, stepmom, brother, sister, and four of our family friends (two of which are my sister’s best friends).  Quite the crew.

When we got to the hotel, all of the “children” were put in one room while the “adults” went to another. I use quotations because I am 23 years old and still lumped in with my 16 year old sister and her friends. I’m totally fine with that because they’re at the age where all they want to do is snack and watch SNL, which is is exactly what I want to do, too.

We raided the snack shop in the lobby; I stuck to hard boiled eggs and a soft brownie since chewing still hurts for me most of the time (TN), but I lived vicariously through them while they munched on Pringles.

The next day, we went to Sea World, which is probably the most TN friendly theme park ever: There are only a few rides, the exhibits are fairly relaxing, and there are loads of soft food snacks available. While my crew rode a coaster, I went down and hung out with the rays. It was actually a very moving experience for me, as one of the large rays swam right at me and lifted their head up out of the water and I swear we had a moment. I instantly got a little watery eyed, and snapped a picture to remember the time a ray and I had a spiritual connection.

On of my favorite parts about this trip was the dolphin show we sat in on. Again, I was already super emotional from my special time with the rays, but something about this dolphin show made me lose it. I started straight up crying when they were jumping through the air; when the trainers were talking about the super special connection they each had with their specific dolphin friend.

Overall, the dolphin show was a wonderful experience and a great way to end our day at Sea World.

The drive back home, on the other hand, was not so great. I get very car sick in the back seat, so I threw in my ear buds and put on a Harry Potter audiobook to get myself through the next two hours.

I am really happy, though, that I was able to go on this trip with my family. They may not all understand what I am going through with my pain, but they helped me have a good time. I remain thankful.

Now, to find some sort of online writing gig to help pay for Angel’s lavish lifestyle.

Wish me luck,

Samantha
