Spend the evening under a red umbrella watching the sunset with an icy cold beer in hand at the brand new El Ranchero restaurant on the southside. In the former Pizza Hut location, the exterior and interior of the building has been completely renovated in the El Ranchero style with bright colors, hand painted images and paneled walls.
Ambiance: We take patio dining very seriously here in Btown, am I right (stay tuned for a post about the best patios around)? This patio is special with something for everyone, the large moveable umbrellas keep the sun at bay, the music is happy mood and the space is sprinkled with handmade metal masks and animals. And while the patio was packed, there was plenty of room for everyone.
Drinks: Full bar, great tequila selection, decent imported selection, zero craft beers. Just know this, they do have Modelo Especial on draft. I was told no Modelo, was brought Dos Equis Lager and found out they carry Modelo. We toasted two shots of Patron Silver during the chips and salsa course, next time I will order them chilled. There’s no shortage of margaritas with 14 options on the menu including fruit flavors and something called a Bulldog Margarita. Beer lovers! They also carry Corona, Corona Light, Dos Equis Amber, Negra Modelo, Pacifico, Sol, Victoria and all the usual domestics.
Food: The chips were tasty and the salsa is a smooth consistency with cooked tomato, onion, and herbs. For the main course we split the Tacos Mi Terra with carnitas. A double flour tortilla taco, with Mexican cheese melted between the layers, filled with salty crunchy bits of pork, topped with fresh onion and cilantro and served with rice and beans. My honey Mike had something to say about the tacos, “these are the best Carnitas in town and I’ve had a few. The pork is crispy in all the right places.” – Mike ❤
Service: The service is on point even with the minor Modelo hiccup. Make sure and take some time to enjoy the place before your order, the food comes arrives quickly. I recognized a few servers from some other restaurants in town, you’ll be in good hands.
Good vibes, good tequila and overall a great experience. Go check this place out and tell me about it! I hope to see you there.
