review 1: 3 and 1/2 stars. As a huge fan of Meding's Dreg City series, I was very excited to try her take on Superheroes. While I did really enjoy the getting to know her reluctant leader of a misfit group of heroes, I didn't fall in love with her post MetaWar world as I did with her other novels. I do, however, find myself eager to read more about this motley group and what troubles they have yet to face after unexpectedly regaining their powers. Next book....Changeling!
review 2: Solid fun read, about a day. I don't know comic book lore much, but I recognized elements from Heros, The Incredibles, Sky High, X-men and other movies, right down to the superhero pairing of the parents in The Incredibles, which felt a bit blatant. Solid characters and interesting storyline.
... more A few weaknesses, such as she knew one key thing then completely forgot she knew it. But she knew it before she was assertive, so perhaps that's understandable. And I had some issues with a character's behavior near the ending that kept me from marking a 4. A 3 star for me is a solid read, a 4 a read that consumes me but doesn't rank with my favourite books. Which makes this 3 1/2. I liked it better than 3 days to dead. less

The build-up was interesting, and a couple of good twists, but the ending felt abrupt and rushed.

Well, the fact that I finished this book in one day should say something in of itself.

4.5 I spaced out during some of the long inner monologues

Good but I wasn't driven to run out and get the next one

Not bad. Not Dreg City, but not bad.
