For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.
Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source – a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes…and none of them will ever be the same.
Okay, here was another book that I was very wary of. Considering my luck this month with books that I added onto my TBR list years ago with a little erotic edge them – hello knocking off The Black Dagger Brotherhood series off my list – I wasn’t feeling very good about this book. Add in the reviews that I was reading for this book and I wasn’t sure if I should have purchased this book months ago…although it was only $1.99. But I was reading Before the Devil Breaks You and I really needed something fluffy to ease the horror of that book so I went ahead.
And was completely hooked by chapter five. Sure I had my issues with Thoughtless. When I was first starting Kiera was annoying the hell out of me. She was too devoted to Denny for my liking, going where he went, disappointed when he had to work later hours. But once she got situated in Seattle, it didn’t get as bad. Although I was a little miffed with how much of a prude she was. I don’t mind people like that in the real world, but when you’re reading a 300+ paged book with their inner monologue. Holy shit, Kiera get over it. Then there was whole situation of the love triangle. At first, it was intriguing especially after Denny came back and Kellan was so cold towards Kiera, But the constant back and forth of them calling a truce to Kiera’s anger over him finally going back to his playboy ways was just *shakes fist in the air*.
Final Rating: 5 out of 5 stars. All of that aside this story was an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. My emotions were all over the place, especially at the end. And stupid me decided to go and listen to ‘Happier’ by Ed Sheeran right after finishing this book. I will now be an emotional wreck for the rest of the year. I can’t wait to read Thoughtful next, which is Thoughtless from Kellan’s POV.
