Top 5 Favourite Break ups!

One of my favourite things to read in a book is a good, heart-wrenching breakup. Obviously followed by a heart-warming reconciliation. But it’s these initial blow ups that make me come back and re-read the books again and again.

  • Perfect Game – J. Sterling
  • This book has a bit of everything I love, a college sports star, a Hero obsessed with the heroine, and of course, a huge breakup mid-book that lasts up until the end. I won’t give away too many spoilers but I will say that if you want a hero that messes up, then spends the rest of the book making up for it, this is most definitely the book for you!

Whats even better, is that this book has its own Facebook group dedicated to Jack Carter (the Hero) ran by the author. So if you love Jack as much as I do, you can join a community full of like-minded readers!

    2. Beautiful Disaster – Jamie McGuire

Travis Maddox. My heart smiles just thinking about this bad boy. I loved this book so much, that as soon as I finished, I started to reread it again. I’ve probably reread Travis and Abby’s breakup over 10 times. You will start falling in love with Travis from the very first page, but then, out of nowhere, he will rip your heart right out of your chest.

The break up lasts for months, and Travis suffers every day. It’s heartbreaking, but its possibly the best book I’ve ever read. Travis and Abby even manage to break up another beloved couple with all their fighting!

Oh and bonus point! There’s an adorable cairn terrier puppy! Which is the same kind of dog as my baby, TJ!

    My Baby Boy!

    3. The Mighty Storm – Samatha Towle

A beautifully angsty story about two childhood best friends reconnecting after 10 years apart. Jake Whethers is no longer the teen that Tru remembers, he’s now a major rock star touring the world. And guess who gets to follow him around and write all about him?!

It would be the perfect reunion if it wasn’t for Tru’s longtime boyfriend back home…

But what I love about this book, is that Tru’s boyfriend has nothing to do with the most heartbreaking fight in this book! The book is full of smaller, heart-stopping moments throughout, but nothing compares to the huge blowup towards the end.

No more spoilers, but trust me, if you like to read about heartbreaking breakups, this book will become your new best friend.

    4. Fallen Too Far – Abbi Glines

Abbi Glines should be a staple in any romance readers library. It’s not the best book I’ve read but the twists and fights make it worthy of multiple rereads.

Blaire is so sweet and innocent despite every horrible thing that has happened to her, but her most redeeming quality is her desire to make it on her own. She never wants to rely on anyone else in her life.

But the reason this makes my list of top 5 breakups is because of the huge twist at the end of this book. The breakup is big and ugly and you will not see it coming. And it even lasts all the way to the next book!

Honestly, all three books in this series are full of arguments and breakups as Rush learns to put Blaire before his messed up family. So if angsty drama is your style, this book, and its sequels, are a MUST READ!

    5. The Bad Boy’s Girl – Blair Holden

Cole Stone. The crush of my teen years. This book started its life on wattpad but has recently been published!

This book shockingly has some pretty poor reviews on Goodreads, but I loved it! There’s a guy completely in love with his girl since he was a kid, a bad boy, a love triangle, a heroine learning to love herself, and of course, a huge dramatic breakup!

This is the only young adult book on my list, but its target audience does not make the break up any less dramatic.

If you want the break up resolved, you’ll have to read book 2 of the published books, but the Wattpad version has it all resolved in Bad Boy’s Girl.
