Totally Should’ve Book Tag

I took part in this tag once before, nearly a year and a half ago actually, so it’s about time I took part in it again. No worries though, I made sure I had different answers for each of the questions. I was tagged by Azia at The Uncharted Word, Jacquie at Rattle the Stars, Melissa at Book Nerd Momo, and Anna at My Bookish Dream. Thanks so much for the tag everyone, I had a lot of fun with this one so I hope you enjoy reading my answers just as much.

Totally Should’ve Gotten a Sequel

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Granted this was a Queen of Hearts origin/Alice in Wonderland retelling, and where Marissa Meyer ended Cath’s story fit perfectly in with the character we know from Lewis Carroll’s original tale, but I still want more. I’d love to see more of Cath’s reign, more of her descent into the role of the mad Queen of Hearts.

Totally Should’ve Gotten a Spin Off Series

Invictus by Ryan Graudin

The way Invictus ended closed off Far and his crews’ adventure, and I felt it was a perfect ending for the story, but I’d love and spin-off series following Invictus through time. The heists they perform are full of danger, though less universe-ending than the danger they were thrown in in the book, and I want more of them.

An Author Who Should Write More Books

Erin Morgenstern

Right now I don’t even need it to be a sequel to The Night Circus – though don’t get me wrong I would more than love a sequel to The Night Circus – I just want more from the author who created one of my favourite worlds, and who wrote one of my all-time favourite books.

A Character Who Totally Should’ve Ended Up With Someone Else

Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh

It’s not that I don’t love Mariko and Okami, but more that I don’t think she should have been with anyone. Mariko’s character in Flame in the Mist was all about discovery, not only was she trying to work out who wanted her dead but also who she was, and I just didn’t see the point of a romance getting in the way of her individual character development.

Totally Should’ve Had a Movie Franchise

Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo

The real question is why doesn’t this book have a movie franchise yet? The Six of Crows duology is beyond incredible; it’s fast paced, full of action, adventure, danger and risk. It has incredible characters and honestly it’s the perfect book to put on the big screen.

Totally Should’ve Kept the Original Covers

Gilded Cage by Vic James

I’m not sure if this was the original cover or just the ARC cover in the UK. Either way I definitely preferred it to the actual cover which is just a little too bland for me.

However the series is going through a cover redesign, and of all three I definitely, 100%, prefer the newest covers to any that came before it.

Totally Should’ve Stopped at Book One

Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser

I said in my review that I’m excited for the second book, and I stand by that, but Song of the Current could have been a perfect standalone book because I felt like everything was wrapped up nicely by the end. I was left with no questions and while I’m excited to see where Caro goes next if there had never been a second book in the works I would have been happy with that as well.

As for everyone else out there reading this post, let me know what your answers for these questions would be. Which author would you love to see more releases from? What books do you think should have kept their original covers? And if there’s anyone out there who wants to take part consider yourself tagged.
