Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.
Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.
In his long-awaited return, John Green, the acclaimed, award-winning author of Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars, shares Aza’s story with shattering, unflinching clarity in this brilliant novel of love, resilience, and the power of lifelong friendship.
Review:
“Anybody can look at you. It’s quite rare to find someone who sees the same world you see.”
I’ve waited so long for this book, that I was so afraid it was going to be awful. But oh my, I loved this book, it has plenty of quotes that I highlighted just because they were perfect in everyway. John Green has an unique way with words, which I cannot explain, but makes us feel through his books, and it was a pleasure to have my heart broken by one of his again. I’ve cried during one particular scene, which was something that had not happen for a long time, I don’t remember the last time I cried while reading.
This book is different, the main character Aza has OCD, something John Green also has, and although I’m not an expert on the matter I can say I loved reading about Aza, even though I could not know wether or not her portrait was well done. But I can say that I’ve learnt a lot from this book and wish to read more stories that foccus on mental illness, because it is important.
The fact that John takes us into Aza’s mind and makes us go through every thought she’s having, like the hand sanitizer (all I’m gonna say). I love John Green for this book, and all of hi books. But this one is a highly recommended read. And I’m so sorry I’ve waited so long to read it.
“You’re both the fire and the water that extinguishes it. You’re the narrator, the protagonist, and the sidekick. You’re the storyteller and the story told. You are somebody’s something, but you are also your you.” Advertisements Share this:
