Work, Leisure And The Time In-between

I feel really blessed. But things don’t usually come easily. Oh, no.

It took me a long time to find my path in life. Twists, turns, returns, boring straight roads…. But now that I am approaching 50…

*pause to breathe, process, and remember to wear more anti-aging cream*

…I can finally say that I love what I do. I am where I am supposed to be.

It is fortunate to be able to go to work excited about what the day is going to bring, what photos I will make, what people I will encounter (most are nice and interesting, thankfully). A headshot always comes with a story, a portrait with expectations, a product with more exciting learning opportunities for me.

Then I go home, and except for catching up with the dreaded laundry pile, the weekend brings me the opportunity to relax, use those magic bath bombs, drink some Cabernet, take a cat nap…

… and photograph some more.

I can then shoot things of my choice, outside my everyday work. I go out and about Tampa Bay, sometimes farther, looking for subjects and things happening in the area. Looking for moments to capture and never let go. Driving around with my son, and teaching him what I have learned so far, since he seems interested in developing the Photography gene and working with me in the future.

Thus, whenever I am not photographing for a living, I am living for photographing.

Thanks for reading.
