I adore any art form that resonates with my soul. I have so much time for artists that uplift women and bring about postive change with their lyrics. Words are so powerful, which is why using an artform to convey a positive, uplifting message is so important, especially with the amount of technology we have today. We are constantly bombarded with information that our brain subconsciously stores, so fill it with positivity! We need to start being more conscious of the information we allow ourselves to be exposed to. Teach the youth about real love and respect, instead of teaching them to lust after and degrade women because subconsciously what they see and hear will ultimately impact their actions in their day to day lives.
Instead of buying your children everything you wish you had growing up, teach them everything you wish you knew grewing up. Teach them respect, high standards, values and morals. Knowledge is power. Know thyself.
I love this short documentary by Common who shares his absolute love and admiration for black women. Collaborating with filmmaker Nefertite Nguva showcasing positive images of black women in the media, highlighting the healing effects of love and describing how love feels.
