review 1: A little warning, you will need lots of tissues when you read this book, it's definitely an ugly cry. I'm talking, puffy eyes, massive amounts of tears and runny nose, UGLY cry, yes with a capital UGLY! Dani and Nate were high school sweethearts, fast forward a few years and they're just settling into their life together. Dani has just graduated law school and Nate is enlisted in the Army. They're completely happy and so in love, then Nate receives orders he's shipping out. It's really hard to write a review for this book without giving a lot away. Based on the title I assumed the couple would exchange letters back and forth during the deployment, that didn't happen. What I didn't expect was the wealth of emotions this book brought to the forefront. What a beautifully writt... moreen gem Rebecca Brooke has created. I don't think we can give enough gratitude to the men and women that serve our countries every day. They give up their time with their families, risk injury and even give their lives. And to the loved ones left behind that always leave a light on and keep the home fires burning, thank you also. Go pick up Letters Home and then thank a soldier.~ Erin, 4 1/2 brightly shining stars
review 2: Be prepared to cry. This is a very touching story of loving, losing, and finding you can love again. Very on-the-mark with current and recent affairs involving many of our military (Thank you for your dedication and service!). I had a difficult time reading some of this as I tend to get emotionally wrapped up in good stories. Definitely not one to read in public if you get like I do when overwhelmed with gut-wrenching love and loss.ARC provided in exchange for honest review. less
