review 1: This isn't the type of book I would normally choose to read but it was suggested for a group read through w/ the PLNs and I'm really glad! I really enjoyed all of the twists and turns in the story and all of the characters. Ophelia is a great leading lady and although she's lacking some confidence in this book I'm sure that she's only going to get more and more bad ass as the time goes on. I think Rebecca did a fantastic job unfolding the story when she did and informing the reader of important bits of information at exactly the right time to make everything fall in to place. I would have read the second book no matter what but the Epilogue was done in a way that leaves the reader no choice but to want to know what is going on. Can't forget to mention all of the wittiness ... morefloating around in Rebecca's writing. I saw so many little phrases I use when I'm on sarcasm overload (which is most of the time.) I loved how well the story and the wittiness flowed together, sometimes an author sticks that in and it just seems forced but I think it worked perfectly in this.Overall I'd give this book 4 or 4.5 stars. Great job Rebecca! Can't wait for some more Ophelia!
review 2: Amazing!!! Debut novel? Seriously? The writing was so good that I would never have guessed this was her first book. I'm VERY much into Urban Fantasty, so I think it takes a lot to impress me. The storyline was solid and interesting. The pacing was lightning fast, making it difficult for me to put the book down. I found myself still thinking about the plot days after I'd finished reading it. Several surprises at the end that I loved!!The guys? I had an ongoing internal struggle with whether I wanted Ophelia with Spencer or Reece. And I LOOOOVED Jinx!Fantastic, highly entertaining read. Very much recommend it to anyone who liked series like Shatter Me, Divergent or Legend.Well done, Ms Espinoza!!! less
