review 1: 4.5 stars. This book put me in mind of one (unrelated) written by an ex-cop in that that book felt like a book written by an ex-cop. This felt from the start like a book written by a doctor. That gave it both positive and negative vibes for me. I liked both books because the knowledge of the author came into play. Knowing how a doctor would think in situations gave the story authenticity. However, at times the medical terms did become tedious, especially during the surgery scenes. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is the editing mistakes. Almost all of them were missing words in the midst of a sentence. I did not feel they detracted from the story though.I enjoy a good page turner, and this story was that. I wavered between "whodunit" until the very end, which ma... morede it an enjoyable read. I liked both the main character, Dr. McIntyre and her love interest, Nick, a lot and kept hoping he wasn't behind the whole thing. The romance was light an insubstantial, but tied up nicely at the end.Overall, a great read for anyone who likes crime dramas or medical-related stories. I would read more books by this author.
review 2: I enjoyed the medical setting of this book and the complication of a doctor's stolen identity was an interesting 'what if' to consider. The two main male characters and their appeal to Dr. Anna McIntyre kept the romance part of the plot moving along—sort of (for me it was one of those books where I skimmed over the 'romantic' parts because they felt predictable and cheesy.) I enjoyed the mystery aspect of puzzling out who had stolen Anna's I.D. and was truly concerned for the attractive leading lady when the guns came out (i.e. the suspense moniker = well earned). Much was made of Anna's Christian faith, in that it was mentioned repeatedly, and yet it didn't seem to make a great deal of difference in how she handled her problems or chose her man. All in all, the authentic medical milieu is what would entice me to read more Mabry books. less

OK plot. Not much character development. Christian references were gratuitous to story line.
