Prescription for Trouble
review 1: Dr. Elena Gardner is finishing her residency but it is not the happy time that it should be. Her husband has had a stroke and died and she against protocol had written the DNR order herself. Then a second stroke victim has died and even Elena is wondering if she could have done the mercy killings herself. She starts to get mysterious phone calls which don't stop even when she has moved to another city to become a substitute doctor for a woman who will be going out on maternity leave. Many things are going on and in Elena's mind there are several suspects. The book was the third in a series but you did not have to have read the previous two to understand what was going on in this story. The mystery was good and it was not obvious who the perpetrator was. The characte... morers were well developed and some you found very likable and others you hated or thought were creepy. I received this book for my Kindle for free and I would definitely read other books by the author.
review 2: I liked the medical stuff, which is interesting, but this "plot" had so many coincidences as to be laughable. Her husband died of a brain hemorrhage and and, shockingly, she KEEPS GETTING PATIENTS WITH INTRACRANIAL BLEEDING!!! I did read it to the end, but the religious overtones were a little heavy - everyone she bumps into tells her they're "praying for you". Hmmm...wonder where this is going to go? It also touched on racial stereotyping, but, amazingly (and hilariously) when the Hispanic and African American doctor are lamenting the fact that some of the townsfolk would prefer to be treated only by white doctors and how sd it is that they stereotype, the African American doctor invited Dr Gardener over for dinner, mentioning that his wife is Jamaican and her specialty is - wait for it ....JERKED CHICKEN!! Because, you know, what else would she cook? This comes up more than once. It was free on the Kindle. less

Another easy read with a Who Dun It twist. This really should get a 4.5, but that is not an option.
