review 1: Excellent book on a complicated subject. Hate Jerry Lee or love him...l one thing is for sure.... He is a larger than life figure in southern history and definitely in the history of Rock n roll! Bragg explores the complicated man... Whether it's the conflicted Jerry Lee.... The convicted Jerry Lee... The jealous Jerry Lee or the megalomaniac Jerry Lee. Interesting portrait of a Mississippi legend.
review 2: Love JLL's voice, but he IS cra-zay!Early in the book, Bragg writes how JLL's dad, Elmo, likened little Jerry Lee's wild, untameability to a motor that had "no govenor." Very apt Southernism. I've read Myra's book, Great Balls of Fire, about her experience with The Killer, & also read any other writings I could find about Jerry Lee, besides the documenta
... moreries & tons of YouTube videos of him from the 50s thru to today so this book didn't have a lot more to say and I just didn't seem to connect with Rick Bragg/s style.Bragg did manage to convey JLL's braggadocio which is hardly an endearing quality of the man. JLL is special and can sing & play like nobody else, but must he keep telling us? It's nice to see that in wife #7 JLL has finally married a woman his own age. And I'm not just referring to Myra.I wish good things for Jerry Lee & hope he truly finds lasting peace with God. Nice photos. less

It is quite obvious that "Killer" was the ghost-writer for this book.
