review 1: A Midsummer Night's Scream by R.L. Stine was a real nightmare for the main character as a magical, maniacal remake of a horror film gone wrong repeats history killing off the filming cast. I really enjoyed this novel, however I did hesitate when I was expected to believe that just because one of the characters had her hand cut off, she died within 60 seconds or so it seemed. I kept waiting to find out the falling sword had hit something more vital that just wasn't immediately noticed by the rest of the cast and crew who were present. The problems with love potions added a whimsical touch and comic relief to the well done tale.
review 2: I really tried to finish this book, but it was so awful that I knew I deserved better, so I stopped the audiobook with abou
... moret half a disk left. Let's see, what did I hate about this book: there was absolutely NO character development and the characters had no personalities, it wasn't scary, the death scenes defied logic and physics, there was no plot, and the villain was named Puckerman (and if you're a Gleek, that is an insult to the name). I haven't read R.L. Stine in years, but in my brain I always thought he was a scary writer. Apparently I was mistaken, and I am so very disappointed in him and in this book. less

A very good book but I think the ending is a bit childish
