review 1: I read this book for the kiddos during story time at work & they all just loved it.It's perfect for them as you can certainly enhance the voice of the squirrel with every disappointing (yet highly funny) "Aw, nuts!". It's also very engaging and introduces different objects to allow for conversation and interaction with children (the squirrel hops into a bike at one point... and the story pauses just slightly & it was very easy to slip in with "Who has a bike!?").
review 2: Age: Toddler-1st gradeAnimal: SquirrelMcClurkan nails the "Fortunately; Unfortunately" humor with one very determined squirrel bent on snatching up a particularly tasty--and elusive--nut. The ending was a tad confusing, though. Did the acorns explode behind him and then he came full circle to... more his tree house only to find his old pile of nuts? Well, anyways, I'm sure a child can connect the dots for me. Well done! less
