review 1: I saw the movie several times and I decided to give the book a shot because I have been a huge fan of the movie since my childhood. Sometimes it was hard to follow the writer's thoughts and I had some issues accepting the decisions of the main character (SPOILER: etc.: the marriage proposal). Some things were not explained properly and other were over-explained. All in all it was an interesting book but with a lot of issues. For me this is a one-time entertainment.

The fact that the book was written during a time period that wasn't nearly as progressive as the one we live in today doesn't excuse it's sexism. However, I chose to look at it as a period piece and a study of the context around which the book was written, rather than get hung up on details that I may not necessarily agree with (which range from the sexism to the flying cars to the cracks about Russia). less

Classic SF from the 50's. A bit outdated, of course, but still very enjoyable. Flying cars!!!
