Find Me
review 1: Find me by Romily Bernard is about a girl named wick tate. she is a hacker and has a sister names lily. She helps women find out if their boyfriends or husbands ore cheating on them. its kind of a part time job for her. She doesn’t find it hard. After all she has learned how to hack from her father. She doesn’t live with her father. She lives with her new parents. She used to be in a foster acre but know her sister thinks that they have found the right parents. Wick is used to couples choosing them and then not wanting them. so wick tries to tell her sister that this is just a temporary home. Lily is convinced however so she unpacks her stuff and makes herself at home. Later on wick realizes that she and her sister won’t be going anywhere. However, one day a note... more appears on her front door step. Someone has left a diary with a note on it. It’s the diary of a girl named Tessa who had committed suicide. The note says fine me. Now, wick has to use her hacker skills to find out the reason why Tessa killed herself. However, she has to keep out for a detective that always seems to have his eye on her. No one can know about her hacking. So this is a big mission for her. She also doesn’t have anywhere to start from other than Tessa use to see a guy. Now wick has to protect herself from a guy that she met, her father that has come back to get her, and the detective. Read the book to find out if she figures out the puzzle. If you like books with tragedy, love, and adventure or suspense read this book. Overall I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
review 2: Wicket (let's pause right here - the main character's name is Wicket. This is never addressed. Like it's totally normal to have the name Wicket - moving on . . .) and her little sister are in foster care after their mother's suicide. Their father is still alive, but as he is a very dangerous criminal that taught Wicket to engage in dangerous criminal activity, too (namely, computer hacking); he is an unfit parent. And, anyway, he's on the run from the law. Wicket sees herself as trash and bad news and unworthy. She decides to use her hacking skills for good by helping women catch their cheating, no-good husbands. When Tally's sister, Tessa, commits suicide and leaves behind a diary detailing her abuse and repeated rape, Tally goes to Wicket for help in finding the man that led Tally's sister to commit suicide. And this is where the book loses me. Really? You wouldn't go to the police for help? Wicket's dad comes back in to the picture and I ask myself this question again. No police? There is one detective in the story, but his role seems to be that of a red herring. Anyway, the story became so unbelievable to me (and Wicket's character - totally unbelievable) that I was sure I'd give this book 2 stars. But then the end happened. Wicket discovers the bad guy. It's not a total shock (he's one of the guys readers will suspect), but the author does a good job in making the readers think it's someone else. The last 3/4 of the book saves it. It is very tense and suspenseful and feels like something straight out of Law & Order SVU. Although I don't think this book is a fit for Gateway, I do think it will be popular with teens looking for an easy-to-read mystery. And if they are SVU fans, it's a no brainer. less
