review 1: I received a copy to review by the publishers via NetGalley.Sofia Becker has finished school and is excited to be seventh graders this upcoming year. This summer vacation she is going to Krakatow, a four-week long summer camp. With constant pleading, she convinces her best-friend, Nona, to come. Sofia was kind of made to go, so she’s glad that Nona will be there. She quickly changes her tune when she finds out that she isn’t in the same cabin as Nona. Not only that she’s stuck with Olivia, a mean girl, and the mean counselor she nicknames the Priss. Sofia opens her big mouth and causes a rivalry with another cabin. Will she be able to survive two mean girls, spending half the camp without Nona, and a cabin prank war? It’s been a while since I’ve read the fir... morest one. When I saw this on NetGalley, I knew wanted to see what happened in this one, especially since it was going to be about camp. I liked this one, but I liked the first one in the series a lot more. I still like the drawings in this series. I think the drawings for Sofia and Nona are so adorable. Sofia had a crush in the past two books, and I’m glad another boy was introduced. I’m hoping he’ll be mentioned in future books. This series is still a quick read, but still very enjoyable. I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble she finds herself in.
review 2: Though I think there is a massive over-saturation of these types of journal style books for kids this series is one of the good ones. The "Blogtastic" books are good silly fun that will be especially appealing to those young girls who a little bit awkward and silly and never seem to be quite cool enough. In this adventure, our Blogtastic Blogger Sofia and her best friend Nona are shipped off to a summer camp whose claim to fame is America's first ever sighting of bigfoot. Sofia hopes this will be the place where she can start over and finally be one of the cool people... but her plan backfires almost immediately, when the massive hair bow she bought for the first day stains her entire head with dye. Even worse, she and Nona end up in different cabins (and of course Sofia ends up in the one with the worst name ever - the Gray Hairstreaks) and her counselor is the most uptight control freak ever and she makes a total fool of herself in front of the cutest boy at camp.Rose Cooper's adorable illustrations do a lot to add a second dose of the humor to the light, snappy writing to create a story that, though it is complete fluff, is delicious fluff - the book equivalent of cotton candy. less
