review 1: I just finished this book this morning. I bought it in September at ATBF, where I saw the author speak in a panel. (It was my first time at an event like that and I had a LOT of fun.) Life got super busy and I haven't yet managed to work my way through the wonderful purchases I made that day. Spirit and Dust was a great book. I liked Daisy's sense of humor and general sassiness, and I liked that the plot was so complex.
review 2: Daisy Goodnight (love the name) can speak to the dead. She will occasionally assist local authorities clear cold cases but when the FBI step in and ask her to help-well that is the real deal. But sometimes things do not go as planned. She is kidnapped by a crime boss who wants her to help find his kidnapped daughter but just when you t... morehink things could not get any worse, they do. It seems that an organization called The Brotherhood of the Jackal is involved and even the spirits are afraid. Daisy and her entire family is in danger if she cannot locate the daughter. I absolutely love this character. She is feisty, sassy and has loads of integrity. The story moves at a very fast pace with magic thrown around by almost everyone. However, this only puts more people in danger of not only losing their lives but their souls. Toss in a dash of humor and romance, then things really explode. I had never read anything by this author, so you can be sure I will check out other works by her. Highly recommend. less
